One Visit. One Permanent Crown.
A dental crown is a custom cap that fits over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth to restore its full shape, strength, and function. The traditional process requires two visits, a temporary crown in between, and an outside lab to fabricate the final result. That means more appointments, more time away from work, and weeks of protecting a placeholder.
New Life Dental operates a fully equipped in-house digital lab where Dr. Cho personally designs and fabricates your crown on-site. Your tooth is scanned, your crown is designed, and your permanent restoration is placed, all in one visit.

No Temporary Crown, No Second Appointment
The biggest frustration with traditional crowns is the gap between appointments. You leave with a temporary that can feel off, requires extra care, and is only ever a placeholder. With same-day crowns at New Life Dental, you skip the temporary entirely. You come in once, and you leave with your permanent crown in place.
Designed by Dr. Cho, Not an Outside Lab
Most practices send crown impressions to an external lab and wait one to two weeks for the result to come back. Dr. Cho designs your crown in-house using digital scanning and CAD/CAM technology. That means he controls every detail of the fit, shape, and shade, and you benefit from tighter quality at every stage of the process.

A Crown That Fits and Feels Right
Digital impressions are more accurate than traditional putty molds. A precise scan of your tooth and surrounding bite produces a crown designed to fit correctly the first time. Patients rarely need significant adjustments, and the final result feels natural from the moment it is placed.
Built to Last
Same-day crowns are milled from high-quality ceramic that closely replicates the appearance and durability of natural enamel. The material is strong enough to handle normal chewing forces and blends with your surrounding teeth in both color and light reflection. You leave with a restoration that looks like a tooth, not a restoration.

A Damaged Tooth Gets Worse Without a Crown
A tooth that needs a crown has already lost significant structural integrity. That damage does not stay where it is. Without a crown, a compromised tooth is at risk for:
- Cracking further under normal chewing pressure
- Reinfection if the inner structure is exposed
- Breaking to the point where the tooth can no longer be saved
The longer you wait, the fewer options you have.
Same-day crowns remove the most common reason patients delay: the inconvenience of multiple appointments. You come in once, the problem is resolved, and the tooth is protected before the damage has a chance to progress.

When a Same-Day Crown Is the Right Call
Same-day crowns are a strong fit for patients who:
- Have a tooth that has been damaged, cracked, or extensively decayed
- Need a crown following a root canal and want to protect the tooth the same day
- Have an old crown that is failing, loose, or broken and needs to be replaced
- Cannot fit multiple appointments into their schedule but need the work done right
- Have dental anxiety and want to complete treatment in a single, predictable visit
If you are unsure whether a crown is what you need, Dr. Cho will evaluate your tooth and give you a straight answer before any treatment is recommended.

What to Expect When You Get a Same-Day Crown
Exam and Imaging
Dr. Cho examines the affected tooth using digital X-rays and intraoral imaging to assess the extent of the damage and confirm that a crown is the right solution. He walks you through his findings before any treatment is discussed.
Tooth Preparation
The tooth is numbed with local anesthesia and shaped to create a clean surface for the crown to bond to. If significant decay or damage is present, Dr. Cho removes it and builds up the tooth as needed before taking your digital scan.
Digital Scan
A precise digital scan of your prepared tooth and surrounding bite replaces the traditional putty impression. The scan is clean, fast, and significantly more comfortable.
Crown Design
Dr. Cho uses CAD/CAM software to design your crown in-house, customizing the fit, shape, and shade to match your surrounding teeth. You can see the design before milling begins.
Crown Fabrication
Your crown is milled on-site from a ceramic block while you wait. The process takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Fitting and Placement
Dr. Cho fits the crown, checks your bite, and makes any final adjustments before bonding it permanently. You leave with a complete, final restoration, no follow-up required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does insurance cover same-day crowns?
Most PPO plans that cover traditional crown procedures also cover same-day crowns, since the final restoration is the same. Our team verifies your benefits before your appointment and walks you through your estimated costs in advance. Financing options are also available.
How do I care for my crown after placement?
Brush and floss normally. Avoid biting into extremely hard foods, and wear a night guard if you grind your teeth. Same-day crowns do not require any special maintenance. Attend your regular checkups so Dr. Cho can monitor the restoration over time.
What if my tooth needs a root canal before the crown?
If Dr. Cho determines that a root canal is necessary, that treatment is completed first. In many cases, a crown can still be placed the same day once the root canal is finished and the tooth is prepared. Dr. Cho will walk you through the sequence and timing before anything begins.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth and surrounding area are fully numbed with local anesthesia before preparation begins. You should feel pressure during the procedure but not pain. If you have dental anxiety, let us know when you schedule and we will discuss sedation options.
Is a same-day crown just as durable as a traditional crown?
Yes. Same-day crowns are milled from high-strength ceramic that holds up to normal biting and chewing forces. The material and bonding process are clinically proven, and the digital fit is often more precise than a crown fabricated from a traditional putty impression.
How long does a same-day crown appointment take?
Most same-day crown appointments take between 90 minutes and two hours from start to finish, depending on the complexity of the preparation. Dr. Cho will give you a realistic estimate when you schedule.
